To all who have entered this space… a big hello and welcome to Reading Aloud
Who am I and why have I embarked on this journey for creating a website?
Books have been one of my closest companions since I can remember. The journey started with the childhood books, largely read by my mother, traversing through the adventures of The Famous Five in the school libraries and the unforgettable mysteries that Feluda solved! At a later age, books and reading had taken on new wings just that that of Jonathan Livingston Seagull as I attempted to delve deeper that the printed words.
I share the love for books and reading with many of my close friends for many years now. Together we feel that the act of reading is being replaced by more transient interests. Books and reading involve and demand our presence, attention, thought process, conversations and attention. It’s an involvement, a synthesis setting a rhythm of newness and joy!
Working with preschoolers all my life has reiterated the importance of and conviction of reading, thinking, questioning, writing and listening.
These two questions, right at the beginning, especially the second one, have been paramount in my thought process ever since the faint traces of this idea had lurked in the horizon of my being. The question of “Who am I?” has been perennial and the quest is still on!
Hence this effort to share thoughts and ideas. To share what I am reading to readings of them. To understand what inspires us, what shapes us, what gives us a meaning. To say somethings to listen to a great deal more!
